Lavinia Challenge Anything but a card

August Challenge for blog.laviniastamps.com

Anything but a card.  I decided to make a gift tag.  I used the above stamp set.  I love the sea horse stamp, so I started with that.  I embossed in gold, then I used the Jellyfish tentacles to make an edge all around.  I thought it needed more so cut a slightly larger piece of black card and repeated the tentacle stamping in a different colour.  I used black fun foam to the top panel to give a bit of height.

That's Crafty Masks and Stencils Challenge

thatscraftychallenges.blogspot.com
This was a real challenge for me, I have some texture paste and only a couple of masks/stencils, but I have never used them on cards before.  I started with the Tim Holtz Rays Stencil on the top half of my Kraft card.  I used some texture paste and coloured some of the rays with a Spectrum Noir pen.
I then used a mask on the bottom half of the card which I coloured with Tim Holtz distress inks.  This didn't really work as well as I was hoping so I used the same mask moved slightly and dabbed my embossing ink pad over then covered in Wow embossing powder and set with my heat gun.  I wanted it to look like water and was quite pleased with the result.  I cut out the tops of the houses from the paper and stuck to the card.

The last teacher thank you card. www.cardmakingandpapercraft.com

I started with the spotty paper and then decided it needed more so cut the flag shape and added some dark wood grain effect paper underneath.  I cut the rectangles with my new stitch die (loving it).  I stamped the books and owl and coloured with spectrum noir pens.  The sentiment was stamped in black ink and I added foam behind to add interest.  I then poked a brad through the top of the rectangle to give the look of being pinned to the card.

Uniko Challenge Black and White

The Uniko Challenge this month is Black and White the twist is a pop of colour.

Here is my card   unikostudio.blogspot.com

I recently brought this skeleton stamp and die in the Sizzix sale and was pleased to find a reason to use it, other than waiting for Halloween!  While making this card I also thought I could use the skeleton for a Get well Card!  I stamped (in black) some flowers and diamonds on plain white paper and cut into strips, I have some film strip washi tape which I brought at a Boot Sale, so I don't know the make.  I die cut some red glitter hearts and added some black sequins.  The black card I used for the base looks like leather, but can't be seen in the photo.  The sentiment was a Waltzingmouse stamp.

Kristina Werner August Mail Call

I love to watch Kristina's YouTube Channel, her work is so lovely.  This month I decided to enter her mail call for August which is stripes!

This was a simple card to make.  I covered the card base with a blue and white stripe paper, then stamped a London Bus onto red card with white embossing powder.  I added a sentiment in embossing powder also.  I fiddled a bit adding other things but decided simple looked the best.

Today I made a card for That's Crafty Challenge, House is the inspiration and it can be Home or Bingo or animal home related.  I choose to make a house warming card as my friend is moving.

I started by cutting out three hearts in ever decreasing sizes, I embossed my card base and the middle heart.  I stamped the house and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  When this was all stuck down I decided it needed more white, so I drew some stitching lines all round the pink heart edge.

Thats Crafty Challenge Sparkly

This challenge was for a little or a lot of sparkle.  My Dr who mad friend had a birthday this week so I made a sparkly Dalek.  I drew the dalek out on the back of some black paper and fussy cut out.  I die cut a circle for his head which I cut in half.  Obviously I had to then use sequins!  When stuck down I covered in Wink of Stella.  I was quite pleased with the result, she thought it was awesome!

That's Craft Challenge Numbers

At last half term is over and back to school!  I have made a few cards but not been able to blog about them.  So here goes

I have made two cards for the That's Crafty challenge, numbers up!

thatscraftychallenges.blogspot.com

My first card is a box card, first attempt! Found a bit tricky to put together but pleased with the end result.  My son has two birthday party's to go to this week.

I decorated as many panels as I could!  I drew the 10 on the back of glitter card, backwards, and then cut out.  Most of the other pieces were die cuts.

Products Used

Spotty card was from stash.
Docrafts glitter paper pack
X cut star nesting dies
Paper everyday circus Fancy Pants 6 x 6 pad

My second card was for another 10 year old boy.

I started with the great brick paper and die cut the name out.  I wanted the Happy Birthday and 10 to look like graffiti.  I rubbed the embossing pad ink onto the paper and sprinkled the embossing powder on. It was easy to use a small dry brush to draw the 10 and wipe any excess away.    I am really pleased with the effect it looks just like a spray can and was just the look I was after.  Easy to do and I will deffo be using this idea again.

Products used
Fancy Pants everyday circus brick paper from 6 x 6 pad
Black embossing powder from Papermania
Avery Elle Clear alphas stamp set and matching die.

Freshly Made Sketches 185

Today I made a card for Freshly Made Sketches, here is their sketch

I played around for a while and ended up making a vellum pocket, which was sewn on with my sewing machine.  I had a postcard stamp in my stash (which had never been used) I stamped and rounded the edges then stuck a few sequin stars on and added the sentiment.  I couldn't decide if I should stick the postcard peeking out of the pocket or leave it so you can take it out.  I decided to leave it so a personal message can be written on the back.

Retro Sketch 163

Nearly missed the Retro Sketch challenge, been busy with life this week!  I really love this layout, my favourite so far, think I'm definitely going to use it again.

retrosketches.blogspot.com

A really simple layout, love it.
I used my new favourite paper pad (of the moment) Sweet Paris by Dovecraft, then used some vellum and more paper for the sentiment tag.  I made a flower with a friends sizzix flower die (not sure what it's called), then added some die cut feathers. A few sequins to finish. This card is my quickest card EVER.  Done in roughly 20 minutes, which is unheard of, I normally change my mind every few seconds!

AAA Cards and Crazy 4 Challenges

I have, for the first time, made one card for two challenges!   The first is AAA Cards 'Theres a hole in my card'  and Crazy 4 Challenges, anything to do with vision and eyes.

I cut the spotty paper (which is my favourite at the moment) to fit just smaller than my card, then stitched round with my sewing machine.  I have recently purchased some vellum paper, after seeing so many people make great use of it on their cards, I had to use it straight away, of course.  I cut a tag in glitter paper  and a matching tag in vellum.  I then cut the stars, for my holes challenge, in the vellum tag.  After attaching the cool glasses, for my vision challenge, I attached the tag to the card and added the sentiment banner.  Really pleased with the colours on this card and in love with vellum and glitter paper!
