Trimcraft Mary's Sketch Challenge and Simon Says Stamp

I found these cool sites with various different challenges and thought I'd give it a go!
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge for the colour inspiration and the sketch was from Trimcraft, I cannot get their sketch to download onto my blog :(
Here is the colour inspiration photo from Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge

I admit I saw a lot of layers and was a bit scared.  I find these cards tricky, but it does say challenge so I had a go.  I loved the colours from the colour inspiration photo, there is some blue in there also but it's hard to spot under the vellum!

I was quite pleased with the result, I love the pastel colours.

This weekend I made a card for Cas(e) this sketch.

I used silver glitter paper as a background to the shaker card and some lovely sequins to fill in the stars.

Retro Sketch 164

Here is this weeks retrosketches.blogspot.com

I found this sketch a bit tricky, there was lots of detail and I had trouble matching.  I did get there in the end and was reasonably pleased with the results. I used a tag for the top rectangle which I stamped with little blue birds, and the paper I used was from a recently purchased pad from Stampin Up!

Products used

The Card Concept 34

I made a card for this challenge a couple of days ago, but forgot to blog and link it whoops, I hope to get it entered if I'm speedy!

Heres their pretty picture

I love the white and floral girly prettiness.

Heres my card

I went for a CAS look.  The colours are a bit washed out in the photo, I need to fiddle with the camera a bit!
I embossed a sheet of white paper and attached a die cut tag in floral paper and vellum.  Sequins for a bit of glamour and a stick on sentiment.

That's Crafty Steampunk Challenge

Today I made a card for That's Crafty Steampunk Challenge.  I used lots of Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy distress ink to give a sepia look on the cut outs, washi tape and stickers.  This is unlike any card I've made before!  I enjoyed the process.

Freshly Made Sketches 185

Today I made a card for Freshly Made Sketches, here is their sketch

I played around for a while and ended up making a vellum pocket, which was sewn on with my sewing machine.  I had a postcard stamp in my stash (which had never been used) I stamped and rounded the edges then stuck a few sequin stars on and added the sentiment.  I couldn't decide if I should stick the postcard peeking out of the pocket or leave it so you can take it out.  I decided to leave it so a personal message can be written on the back.

Retro Sketch 163

Nearly missed the Retro Sketch challenge, been busy with life this week!  I really love this layout, my favourite so far, think I'm definitely going to use it again.

retrosketches.blogspot.com

A really simple layout, love it.
I used my new favourite paper pad (of the moment) Sweet Paris by Dovecraft, then used some vellum and more paper for the sentiment tag.  I made a flower with a friends sizzix flower die (not sure what it's called), then added some die cut feathers. A few sequins to finish. This card is my quickest card EVER.  Done in roughly 20 minutes, which is unheard of, I normally change my mind every few seconds!

AAA Cards and Crazy 4 Challenges

I have, for the first time, made one card for two challenges!   The first is AAA Cards 'Theres a hole in my card'  and Crazy 4 Challenges, anything to do with vision and eyes.

I cut the spotty paper (which is my favourite at the moment) to fit just smaller than my card, then stitched round with my sewing machine.  I have recently purchased some vellum paper, after seeing so many people make great use of it on their cards, I had to use it straight away, of course.  I cut a tag in glitter paper  and a matching tag in vellum.  I then cut the stars, for my holes challenge, in the vellum tag.  After attaching the cool glasses, for my vision challenge, I attached the tag to the card and added the sentiment banner.  Really pleased with the colours on this card and in love with vellum and glitter paper!

Boot Sale Bargains!

Today is a Bank Holiday in the UK and my Hubby, myself and Ben my youngest Son went to the largest local Boot Sale.  I love a good Boot Sale, but my son gets bored....  Today he was in luck because I was there only 35 minutes when I found a lady down sizing her craft room.  I spent only £21.50 and got all this, most of these items had not been used or opened.  It felt like Christmas.

Freshly Made Sketches 184

The challenge inspiration is Over The Edge.  Here is the sketch.
freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/

As suggested I cut my card a touch smaller so it would fit easily into it's envelope.
I started with covering the card with paper and then adding a strip of a different pattern paper on the left hand side.  I cut some white vellum with a tag die and cut the one size smaller tag die with patterned paper.  I cut some stars in glitter paper and patterned paper and stuck to the tag.  Next I stitched with ,my sewing machine along the top and stuck the tag  to the card.  Three sequins from my stash to finish off the tag.  Then I cut to small dies one from one of the patterned papers and the other in white and stamped the sentiment.

Products used

Anita vellum plain white.
Dovecraft Sweet Paris 6 x 6 Paper.
X Cut Star nesting dies.
Papermanin A4 glitter paper.
